State of the art technology and unique features
Combine a compact camera unit with a larger field of view, greater magnification, Split Screen, our Quick Zoom and Dynamic Image Update features…and POWERscope® 3000 sets a whole new standard of performance.  Excellent image quality with optimal color reproduction will let you more effectively manage print quality for optimal results on every run. POWERscope® 3000 is a high quality, feature rich video web inspection system with a very affordable price point, designed for use in a press room environment by customers who need a fully functional yet easy to use web inspection system.

POWERscope ^® 3000 combines a high quality PAL video image with a large 3” X 4” field of view - 68% larger than the products predecessor. It comes standard with a 17” SVGA monitor. The product packs a powerful 38X magnification, essential for effective viewing and inspection of register marks, traps, dot structure, die cuts, tiny type and many other print quality attributes.

All this inspection power is neatly packed into a compact 4” X 6” X 12” camera box, making it ideal for use on a wide variety of printing machines.

More than anything, BST Pro Mark® web inspection systems are known for being more intuitive and easier to use than other inspection systems, and as a result, yield greater results in the press room. POWERscope® 3000 takes this advantage further in three ways: with simplified control design, improved operational icons, and with two new productivity enhancing features never before seen in this class of web inspection systems - Quick Zoom and Dynamic Image Update.

Market research has shown that visual web inspection systems are most commonly used at minimum and maximum zoom levels, typically looking at either large overall print areas or small areas in great detail. The new Quick Zoom feature on POWERscope® 3000 allows a user to almost instantly go to maximum or minimum zoom with the touch of a single icon, thus saving valuable time and improving operator efficiency.

Dynamic Image Update (DIU) is another innovative and unique new feature on POWERscope® 3000, where the system increases the frequency of images taken automatically whenever certain functions are used. For example: when zooming in or out on an image, DIU tells the system to take up to ten pictures per second (rather than the normal two), resulting in image navigation that is more natural, seamless and intuitive for the operator.

Standard features on the POWERscope® 3000 also include Auto Constant Scan, Split Screen and 360 degree camera orientation. Each contains unique functionality for the user not found on competitive systems.

The Split screen function is more advanced than competitive systems, memorizing the postion as well as the zoom and iris settings. This makes split-screen quite useful as both a start-up and running press room tool.

Auto Constant Scan allows a user to inspect portions or all of the print repeat area at the touch of a single icon. The manual POWERscope® contains ACS in machine direction only. The POWERscope® mot contains ACS both acrosss the web and in machine direction. The operator can also select the preferred inspection pattern.

Like all BST Pro Mark® web inspection systems, basic functions are easier to use and commands are executed in fewer steps than competitive systems – one of the many important factors that contribute to the higher level of productivity and results delivered by BST Pro Mark® web inspection systems. The On Screen Display is used to quickly define system and operator preferences and to select from any of the nine languages available.

POWERscope ^® 3000 is available with both manual and motorized camera movement. The manual system has the operator controls located on the camera box while the motorized system has the controls on the chassis.

Quality and reliability are built into every component and every detail -- all metal camera box and chassis, industrial grade microprocessors, surface mount PCB’s, integral static and RFD protection, internal surge surpression and shielded cables. SUPER HandyScan® 3000

Like all BST web inspection systems, intuitive operation and fast command execution are staples. Basic functions are easier to learn and to use and commands executed in fewer steps than competitive systems. Field research has documented that BST web inspection systems deliver a higher level of productivity and results than competitive inspection systems.

The SUPER HANDYScan 3000 includes a whole range of “Smart System” functions designed to deliver maximum press-room efficiency and productivity with minimum effort, and has eight unique new features specifically engineered to save time and make on-press quality control easier and more efficient than ever before.

The new SUPER HANDYScan 3000 starts with a simplified control panel and improved icon design.  Color coded icons contribute to greater system productivity by making the system more intutive, allowing commands to be executed faster.

Combi Scan is another new and unique feature on the SUPER HANDYScan 3000, designed to automate the print inspection process. Combi Scan combines all the desired inspection parameters — programmed positions, Auto Constant Scan routine and split screen positions — into one comprehensive continuous inspection loop. This new feature insures all print is inspected in the most efficient and productive manner.

With the optional second camera or back strobe the strobe the SUPER HANDYScan 3000 becomes a very effective tool for inspecting front, back and front-to-back print in a variety of ways.  The system can be used to view the currently active camera or images of camera #1 and camera #2, side-by-side in a Split Screen display or in an adjustable Picture In Picture mode.  Front-to-Back Register (FTBR) is accomplished by a unique combination of front side camera and back side strobe, to yield remarkably clear and useful images of both sides of the web, even on heavy paper substrates. 

The SUPER HANDYScan 3000 is suitable for use on a wide range of web printing presses and web widths – offset, CI flexo, in-line flexo and Rotogravure.

NEW PROScan ® 3000

With VIRTUAL REPEAT ® TECHNOLOGY   BST Pro Mark has introduced the PROScan ®  3000  video web inspection system, which encorporates the companies unique Virtual Repeat ® Technology. Virtual Repeat Technology allows the operator to see the entire print repeat in thumbnail images, and to easily and quickly move around the repeat. The technology was pioneered by BST four years ago, and has proven to be one of the most operator friendly and useful functions ever. The new PROScan 3000 is the first BST visual inspection system to incorporate the technology, which has previousely only been availabe on more expensive print process management systems.

The PROScan 3000 has as standard, a high-resolution 3-Chip CCD Camera with 3 X 440,000 pixel resolution. The resolution of 3 chip cameras produces the ultimate in picture quality and image detail. This is the first BST Pro Mark video inspection system in North America to use a 3 chip camera as standard. In Europe , 3 chip cameras are the standard by which all others are judged. 

The system PROScan 3000 has a 4" X 5" or (optional) 7" X 9" field of view.

The new product includes many innovative “Smart System“ functions specifically engineered to save time and make on-press quality control easier and more efficient than ever before. These include Quick Zoom, Color-To-Color Comparison, Positional Memory with Position Gallery and Combi-Scan.Split Screen and Auto Constant Scan (ACS) are also standard.

Quick Zoom allows a user to instantly go to maximum or minimum zoom with the touch of a single icon, thus saving valuable time and improving operator efficiency.

Color to Color Comparison (CTC) is used to effortlessly compare on press color from any position on the print with any other area on the print, by providing a simultaneous display of the reference and the live image in split screen mode. 

The PROScan 3000 has Positional Memory that allows storage of 30 positions, along with the X-Y coordinates on the print repeat, zoom and iris settings and a full screen image for viewing and comparison with live print using the split screen function.

A new Position Gallery provides a thumbnail directory of all saved positions in seconds, and greatly simplifies the time to move about the critical memorized print positions. 

With the optional second camera or back strobe the PROScan 3000 becomes a very effective tool for inspecting front, back and front-to-back print in a variety of ways.

Front-to-Back Register (FTBR) is accomplished by combining a front side camera and a back strobe, to yield remarkably clear and useful images of both sides of the web even on heavy paper substrates.
